What Are The Different Types Of Google Ads?

There are a total of 9 different types of Google Ads,  and not all of these will be relevant to your business type. However, it’s helpful to be aware of the different types of Google ads  so that you can identify them when searching on Google  yourself and understand the effectiveness of each for your business.

What Are The 9 types of Google Ads?

Responsive Search Ads - Display on Google search pages when a user searches for the keywords you have used. Ads use a variety of headlines and descriptions to automatically find the most effective ones based on a user’s search term.

Dynamic Search Ads - Allow Google to do the hard work for you by using your website content to run search campaigns with the correct keywords etc. Unfortunately, you don’t have much control over what these ads will generate.

Display Ads - Get your advert displayed on various websites that partner with Google to provide ad space. Your advert will be displayed on websites that Google believes your target audience often visits.

App Promotion Ads - If your business extends into an app or only performs as an app, you can use Google App Promotion to appear on Google Search or Display Networks to encourage app installations.

Video Ads - Promote your business product or services through visual media (videos) on visual platforms e.g. YouTube. This is an effective way to get your business in front of a new audience and capture attention with an engaging video.

Shopping Ads - If you’re a business that sells products and has an online store, shopping ads are ideal to promote your products when a customer searches on Google e.g. bespoke wood kitchen table.

Local Search Ads - Most beneficial if your business operates from a physical store that customers are able to visit. This will appear as an ad on google maps etc. to show the location of your business.

Call-Only Ads - Using only a mobile browser to promote direct phone calls from the advert. Add a small amount of information about your business and operate these adverts only during your business opening hours.

Local Service Ads - Most beneficial for a local business operating their service in a specific area e.g. Plumbers in Swadlincote. With these local service ads you only pay for the leads that you receive from the ad.
